Mike Leach needles Craig James at Cowboys practice

Former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach attended Dallas Cowboys practice on Thursday. That gives us an excuse to pass along his comments, which really don't have much to do with the NFL. But they are hilarious.

Leach was asked about his former nemesis Craig James' failed run at the U.S. Senate. James, a former ESPN college football announcer who played a big role in getting Leach fired at Texas Tech, received 4 percent of the vote in the Republican primary in Texas.

"Well, I think the results were about what everybody expected. I share the same opinion that 97 percent of the others do," said Leach, who now coaches at Washington State. "As a matter of fact, they had this poll in The Dallas Morning News, "who would have won between he and I" and I'm proud to say that me and the public have as much in common."

In that poll, more than 95 percent of respondents said they'd vote for Leach rather than James to hold public office, which just shows the fine people of Texas have a lot of common sense.
