A week after Barnes & Noble pulled the plug on a string of scheduled appearances citing safety concerns, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick appeared at a church in Georgia on Saturday to sign copies of his autobiography, "Michael Vick: Finally Free."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Vick -- traveling with a security team -- was greeted by least 100 people at the Atlanta-area church. Though he's made substantial efforts at community outreach in recent years, Vick remains a controversial figure following his 2007 arrest and subsequent 19-month prison stint for bankrolling an illegal dogfighting ring.
A source told PhillyMag.com last week that the cancellation of the Barnes & Noble appearances was part of a recent uptick of violent threats against Vick and his family.
"That's a very small selective group of people who still have their own form of hatred," Vick said during a short press conference on Saturday. "But you know, I think the most important thing for me to do is to continue to stay positive and continue to do the right thing because that's what's going to make a difference. ... You gotta move forward."
Vick wishes his detractors would do the same thing.
