Michael Vick in good position to earn at least $7M in '13

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has a good chance of making $7 million this season. He has a very slim chance of earning $10 million. Here's why.

NFL.com's Albert Breer reports, via a source, that Vick's deal includes a $3.5 million signing bonus and a $3.5 million base salary. He can earn up to $500,000 in roster bonuses, $1.5 million if he plays 90 percent of the snaps and a cool million if the Eagles win, and Vick plays in, Super Bowl XLVIII in East Rutherford, N.J.

The $3.5 million signing bonus replaces the $3 million guarantee Vick was due last week, Breer reported.

ProFootballTalk had the first report of Vick's restructured deal, which was announced by the team on Monday.

Breer speculated that Vick could be cut if he doesn't win the Eagles' starting job out of training camp. Eagles coach Chip Kelly said the team will have an open competition at quarterback, presumably between Vick and second-year man Nick Foles.

If Vick is unable to win the job in July and August, the Eagles likely would think long and hard about paying their backup a base salary of $7 million. That said, the bonus alone tells you Vick is the favorite to win the job.
