Miami Dolphins reach out to Vikings' George Paton for GM

The Miami Dolphins reached out to the Minnesota Vikings about interviewing assistant general manager George Paton for their open general manager job, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday night, citing a source informed of the Dolphins' search. It's unclear if Paton will interview, but he's on the Dolphins' list.

Before working for the Vikings, Paton spent six seasons (2001-06) in Miami as the Dolphins' director of pro personnel.

Miami has interviewed six candidates so far in their search for a successor to Jeff Ireland, including Detroit Lions executive Brian Xanders on Wednesday.

The Dolphins also announced Wednesday the hiring of Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator.
