Matt Flynn reportedly top QB at Oakland Raiders camp

An update from Oakland, where the Raiders' quarterback job is Matt Flynn's to lose.

Scott Bair of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported Friday that Flynn is "clearly the No. 1 guy" at the start of training camp. The sixth-year veteran (with just two NFL starts) "looked the part with several accurate passes," according to Bair.

Flynn is tasked with beating out third-year enigma Terrelle Pryor and rookie Tyler Wilson. NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah called Wilson "one of the toughest quarterbacks I've ever evaluated." The former Arkansas passer was productive in spring practices, prompting Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune to write that Wilson looked "miles ahead" of where JaMarcus Russell and Pryor were as newbies (which doesn't tell us much).

Wilson, however, struggled mightily Friday, tossing three interceptions in four pass attempts at one stretch. We're not in the habit of tracking training-camp numbers -- that's a fool's game -- but the Raiders offer one of the league's true quarterback competitions. Flynn opens as the lead horse, but his job security is spotty.
