LaRon Landry swears New York Jets can be in playoffs

The New York Jets have been written off by many pundits after a 3-5 start, but safety LaRon Landry isn't ready to channel Mike Shanahan just yet.

"We still can be in the playoff run," Landry said Monday, via the New York Daily News. "S---, if we don't get into the playoffs, man, it's a boring-ass season. F--- that."

Landry's profane thoughts should be how the entire Jets roster feels. The Jets have dug themselves a hole, but the AFC wild-card race is wide open. Let's not forget 2009, when the 7-7 Jets were left for dead after Week 15. That team ended up in the AFC Championship Game.

With his team on its bye last week, Jets coach Rex Ryan gave his players seven days off. On Monday, Ryan acknowledged the Jets weren't "sniffing the playoffs" right now, but that the team would continue to fight.

Landry traveled home to Virginia during his time away, visiting with Gucci, his pet monkey.

"It was good seeing him again," Landry said.

Nothing boring about that.
