When Maurice Jones-Drew finally reported to Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, it could be perceived as a victory for Shad Khan, a man who's had his share of conquests in the business world.
The Jaguars released a statement from their owner on Sunday, hours after Jones-Drew ended his 38-day holdout with no new contract to show for it.
Khan didn't brag about being the last to blink, or offer any regrets about how his "Train is leaving the station" statement sent this stalemate into a darker place.
Instead, we got a boiler-plate statement missing the zest we've come to expect from Khan. That should do just fine, of course. There's no need to extend this soap opera any further.
Jones-Drew stands behind his actions, but his holdout could jeopardize his workload thanks to the emergence of Rashad Jennings. Khan's outspokenness made for great copy, but did little to foster unity in his own building.
All the drama is in the past now, but both men can learn from it.
