Kenny Britt: Tennessee Titans wrong to bench me

Players often back down from controversial tweets after they write them. Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt is taking the opposite approach: He's doubling down after saying earlier this week he expected 2013 to be his final season in Tennessee.

Britt still is upset that the team benched him after a costly holding penalty.

"Were they wrong for benching me? I believe so," Britt said Wednesday, according to The Associated Press. "And I believe the excuse they gave was wrong because at that point in time when they did bench me, it had nothing to do with me having mistakes. We watched film, and they didn't correct me on anything from my route at the time. Don't have any problem blocking or have (a problem with) effort on blocking at all."

Britt's tweet inspired a short conversation with Titans coach Mike Munchak and a sit-down with general manager Ruston Webster, who asked that Britt talk to the team before talking to his Twitter followers.

Like a lot of messages given to Britt in his career, we're not sure this one really sunk in.
