Julius Thomas, Allen Robinson ready to lift Jaguars' O

After 10 years without a 1,000-yard receiver, the Jacksonville Jaguars boast a pair of strong candidates to accomplish the feat in 2015.

Second-year wide receiver Allen Robinson is a prime breakout candidate on the heels of an "unbelievable" performance featuring a host of spectacular catches in offseason practices.

Robinson isn't the lone star in the suddenly frisky Jacksonville aerial attack.

Big-ticket free agent acquisition Julius Thomas "appeared focused, ready and -- perhaps most importantly -- very, very talented throughout OTAs and minicamps," according to John Oehser of the team's official website.

Thomas will be the focal point of the passing game early on, as new offensive coordinator Greg Olson moves him around the formation in a "Joker" role to create mismatches.

Still just 26 years old, Thomas is already the first tight end in NFL history with at least 12 touchdowns in back-to-back years.

There remains a misguided notion in fantasy football circles that Thomas' production was merely a byproduct of Peyton Manning's high-flying offense.

In fact, it was Thomas' emergence as a mismatch against linebackers and safeties that sparked the Broncos' record-breaking attack in 2013.

"Skill-set wise as a tight end, he gives you everything," NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah opined last November. "He can run after the catch, he can post you up in the middle of the field, he has a great feel in the red zone. He's an outstanding tight end and a big-time weapon for Peyton Manning."

The pieces are in place for the Jaguars to feature one of the NFL's most improved offenses this season.

The previously porous offensive line welcomed three potential impact players, second-round pick T.J. Yeldon is poised to take control of the backfield and the young receivers now have a year of experience under their belts.

If Blake Bortles can fix his faulty throwing mechanics, Thomas and Robinson have a chance to join Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell as the only 1,000-yard receivers in franchise history.
