Jonathan Martin's meeting with Dolphins postponed

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told reporters Monday that he would meet with estranged offensive tackleJonathan Martin on Wednesday to discuss the locker-room scandal involving suspended guard Richie Incognito.

That meeting has now been postponed.

The Dolphins announced Tuesday that Ross' tete-a-tete with Martin will be postponed at the request of the league office.

"Ted Wells and the National Football League have asked that we delay our meeting with Jonathan Martin until they have the opportunity to meet with him first," Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel explained. "Out of deference to the process, we will cooperate with their request. We look forward to meeting with Jonathan directly as soon as possible."

Wells, who is leading the NFL's investigation, is scheduled to meet with Martin on Friday. It never made sense for Ross to talk to Martin first, as the Dolphins owner could influence Martin's statement to Wells.

Ross also expects to meet with Incognito to "hear all the facts" before deciding his future with the organization. The most likely scenario is that Incognito and Martin have both played their last snap with the Dolphins.
