Joe Flacco's brother, Mike, trades baseball for football

Joe Flacco took an unconventional path to the first round of the NFL draft, playing at Delaware, then a Division I-AA school. Joe's 26-year-old brother, Mike, will try to take an even tougher road.

Mike Flacco has enrolled at New Haven University and will play tight end for the Division II program, Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reported Thursday.

Mike Flacco has struggled in minor-league baseball in the Baltimore Orioles' system the last two years, so he added 30 pounds of muscle with an eye toward trying to make it in football. He reportedly considered declaring for the NFL right away but decided against it.

This seems like the smart play, considering he hasn't played football since high school.
