NEW ORLEANS -- Watching the Baltimore Ravens reach another Super Bowl remains a bitter pill to swallow for many fans of the Cleveland Browns.
Cruel fate for Browns fans, but Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown says it's time for Cleveland to let it go.
"That's old news now," Brown told me Saturday at "NFL Honors." "Baltimore has proven themselves on the football field. We can't take that away. Art did not make the correct move in my opinion, at the time. It hurt the people, but now it's time to get over it."
Full disclosure: I grew up a Browns fan who lived through "The Drive," "The Fumble" and every ounce of disaster since.
"The Move" was the most painful blow of all. It altered the way many viewed professional sports, because if an organization like the Browns can be uprooted, what city is safe from a similar fate? People in Baltimore, who saw their beloved Colts shipped to Indianapolis in the dark of night, know this better than anyone. History is important, but there's also a time to let the past go.
Jim Brown has it right. The Ravens -- today -- don't owe Cleveland a thing.
