"We've got to have some wins to make sure we're in the hunt. But we are fresh off, I keep pointing it out, a world champion that won nine of 16 ballgames last year," Jones told KRLD-FM, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We know that you want your team as healthy and as in sync as it can be as we get on in to the end of the season. We know that we've played one division game and won it. We've got those guys, the Giants, coming back in here. We know that's going to be a big game for us.
The Cowboys can compete for the playoffs. Their defense is better, and they have a good enough quarterback with solid skill-position talent. That's why Jeff Darlington correctly pointed out this week they should be called "America's Tease."

What Jones conveniently ignores is that the Cowboys have looked like a poorly coached group since Jason Garrett took over. There are untimely penalties, mental mistakes, confusion and poor clock management problems week after week. In a league where teams are so closely bunched together, it's hard to trust the Cowboys. This year or any year.
"I'm not into everybody getting better, learning for years to come," Jones said. "It's this year."
That's the kind of quote an owner makes when he's prepared to make changes if there's little or no progress by season's end.
