Jay Ratliff meets with Dolphins; Bengals reached out

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Jay Ratliff continues to make his rounds on the NFL's version of speed dating.

After meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears last week, Ratliff visited the Miami Dolphins late this week, a source informed of the lineman's plans told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on Saturday.

Rapoport also reported that the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost defensive tackle Geno Atkins(torn ACL) for the season, reached out to Ratliff.

A Bengals-Ratliff marriage would be intriguing. Cincinnati defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer coached Ratliff during the lineman's first two seasons with the Cowboys. However, Rapoport said the Bengals are looking for immediate help and that Ratliff will need a few more weeks before he is full go.

Ratliff, 32, was released by the Cowboys earlier this month with a failed physical tag because of his lingering hamstring injury.

The 2009 All-Pro hasn't played in one game since last season, but his agent, Matt Slough, told Rapoport in October that the interior lineman is "medically cleared to return to all football activities without limitation."

Let's not fully close the door on the Bengals being the best option for Ratliff if they still are looking to fill their Atkins-sized hole in a couple of weeks.
