Jason Licht: Bucs, Cards talked Mike Glennon trade

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appeared to be open to a Mike Glennon trade before the 2014 NFL Draft last month, the Arizona Cardinalsfigured to be a prime suitor.

Glennon conducted a private workout with Arizona in 2013. NFL Media columnist Michael Silver reported at the time that the team had interest in the N.C. State star as a draft prospect.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht confirmed to Phoenix's KGME-AM on Tuesday that the Cardinals were one of several teams to engage in conversations about a potential Glennon trade early last month.

Cardinals counterpart Steve Keim is one of Licht's closest friends, so it's natural that they would touch base on a strong-armed quarterback viewed as a perfect fit for Bruce Arians' vertical offense.

Licht joked that he wasn't going to let Keim "bully" him into a trade.

"He's not getting (Glennon)," Licht added.

Whereas the McCown acquisition once seemed like a dead end for Glennon, the Bucs' brass now views last year's rookie sensation as the quarterback of the future.
