Jaguars deny report that FedEx negotiating for minority share

The Jacksonville Jaguars denied a report Friday from 1010 XL in Jacksonvile that FedEx founder and CEO Fred Smith is in negotiations with Jags owner Wayne Weaver to buy a minority share of the franchise.

When reached by NFL.com via email, the Jaguars said they had no statement because the report was false.

"We do not have a statement because this is not true," a team spokesman said. "Wayne Weaver is not selling the team. This is a rumor and we don't issue statements about rumors."

Smith is currently a minority owner of the Washington Redskins.

Weaver has owner the Jaguars since their inaugural season in 1995.
