Idle hands: Cutler's engagement with reality star back on

Turns out the broken thumb suffered by Jay Cutler wasn't all bad. Sure, it took him off the football field ... but it put him back on the path to love.

We're sure Bears fans are totally cool with the Caleb Haine era now.

Cutler is once again engaged to Kristin Cavallari, according to a tweet Wednesday by the mid-to-upper-tier reality star.

"This time its official..Jay and I are engaged again :)"

(Kristin included the emoticon, not us.)

Cavallari -- who first transfixed the 18-34 demographic as the yin to Lauren Conrad's yang on the MTV hit "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" -- refuted reports last week that the engagement was back on.

Cutler, who abruptly broke off the couple's first engagement back in July, confirmed in his Wednesday news conference that the couple was engaged again but hadn't set a wedding date.
