Greg Zuerlein ends field-goal streak for St. Louis Rams

If they ever make a Disney movie about the life of Greg "The Leg" Zuerlein, Sunday's events either will be ignored in the script or used as the dramatic inciting moment at the end of the first act.

The One They Call Legatron entered Week 6's game against the Miami Dolphins a perfect 13 of 13 on field-goal attempts, including 4 of 4 from beyond 50 yards.

The rookie came down to Earth on Sunday, missing three of his five kicks in a 17-14 loss. Zuerlin missed 52- and 37-yard attempts in the second quarter, then failed to convert a 66-yard monster try as time expired.

"I can make that kick," Zuerlin said, via The Associated Press. "I just didn't come through."

Had Zuerlin come through, he would've shattered the NFL record for longest field goal, nobley hanging in there at 63 yards.

"The odds were much better for him to make the kick than us going for it," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said, via The AP. "He's got that kind of leg."

Zuerlin indeed had the distance, which is remarkable in its own right, considering he kicked the ball from his team's side of the field. But it stayed left.

Now we know how fans in Mudville felt when the Mighty Casey struck out.
