Giants teammates express confidence in Manning's magic

There's just something different about Eli Manning this season. Beyond the pumped-up numbers, his Giants teammates sense a streak of newfound confidence and a zero-tolerance policy for yet another down-the-stretch disaster.

Opponents see it, too.

"He's a completely different animal right now. He's playing unbelievable," Redskins defensive lineman Barry Cofieldtold the New York Daily News this week. "If he would have played this well last year, we might have given Green Bay a run for their money."

Cofield will face the Giants on Sunday after winning a Super Bowl with Manning during their five seasons together in New York. He believes Manning is currently at his most dangerous, a theory echoed by his teammates.

"He has a lot of confidence in what he can do right now," said running back Ahmad Bradshaw. "Once Eli feels that way and feels comfortable with his guys, he tends to play better."

Much has been written about the Giants' troubles in December. But a jitter-free Manning makes New York a dark-horse threat in an NFC playoff picture that, to many, appears a foregone conclusion with the 13-0 Packers ruling the house.
