Giants-Redskins matchup will stay on 'SNF' in Week 13

The NFL will keep the Dec. 1 matchup between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants in its original slot on "Sunday Night Football" at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC, the league announced Monday.

The Redskins fell to 3-7 with a loss Sunday, all but wiping out any playoff hopes. However, the Giants (4-6) have won four straight games to vault themselves into contention in the NFC East.

If the Giants win next week against the Dallas Cowboys, it would set up an important game against the Redskins in Week 13.

The D.C. and New York television markets don't hurt the decision, either.

There were initial reports Sunday that the Philadelphia Eagles versus Arizona Cardinals matchup would be flexed into the Sunday night slot. In the end, the NFL decided its original game was the best choice.

Instead of getting Chip Kelly matching wits against a stout Cardinals defense, America will get a game with slim playoff implications.
