Flacco wishes Roethlisberger could play on Thursday

The 0-3 Baltimore Ravens desperately need a win over bitter rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football.

With Ben Roethlisberger out and Michael Vick in, one might assume the Ravens are glad to see the backup -- just don't tell that to Joe Flacco.

"Shoot, I'd love to have Ben playing in this game and going up against him for another time," Flacco said, via ESPN.com.

That's easy to say when you don't have to defend or try to tackle the quarterback.

Since Big Ben entered the NFL, the Steelers are 1-6 against the Ravens in games he hasn't started. With the quarterback in the lineup, Pittsburgh is 11-7, including playoffs. That one Steelers' win sans Ben came with the great Charlie Batch under center at the age of 37.

Flacco cited competitive fire as the reason he would rather face Roethlisberger than Vick.

"As a competitor, it's always nice to face guys that you've been going against for a while," Flacco said. "You never like to see somebody injured either, and have to sit out. Hopefully everything is going well with (Roethlisberger), and he'll be out there as quickly as possible."

In the meantime, Flacco just needs to get the Ravens a win.
