Eli feels effects of Sanchez-Tebow hype parade

Eli Manning has zero reason to pay attention to the New York Jets.

In an offseason that's given birth to a two-headed monster at quarterback in Florham Park, N.J., Manning and his two Super Bowls still own the Big Apple.

Gotham knows the score, but who can blame Manning if the endless attention surrounding Jets starter Mark Sanchez and his for-now backup Tim Tebow has turned a touch claustrophobic.

When Manning recently appeared at the University of Mississippi, he hinted at the fervor.

"(The) New York Giants just won a championship," Manning joked, per The Star-Ledger, "yet I'm still the third-most talked about quarterback in my own city."

That might be the case, but we'd argue no quarterback rose as steadily in the eyes of the football world as did Manning over the past season. One year ago, he was noticeably left off NFL Network's top 100 list, as voted by his peers. That won't happen again in 2012.

Besides, Manning himself is set to host "Saturday Night Live" on May 5. The subtext: These aren't the same problems we cope with on a daily basis.
