The Philadelphia Eagles have their hearts set on a makeover.
Team president Don Smolenski announced Wednesday that the franchise has discussed switching back to the old kelly green uniforms it last wore during the 1995 campaign.
"We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we're trying to work through, but that's going to take some time," Smolenski told WIP-FM. "It's there, and it's something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it's going to provide restrictions for us. It is being talked about it, yes."
The Eagles first donned their kelly jerseys in 1941, but ditched the look during a questionable '90s fashion cycle that also saw the Jets and Oakland A's move away from the tint toward hunter green, while Philly opted for the more ominous midnight green.
As Smolenski points out, though, uniform overhauls take time under the league's current protocol, something the Cleveland Browns are learning after years of planning for their new "cutting-edge"Â Nike uniforms set to be unveiled in 2015.
