Eagles CB Asomugha to start days after hyperextending knee

It turned out all the hoopla over Nnamdi Asomugha's knee injury was much ado about nothing, as the Eagles cornerback will start Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Asomugha appeared to have suffered a bad left knee injury while participating in a non-contact drill during a Thanksgiving practice. The injury was not as severe as originally feared, as tests revealed Asomugha only suffered a hyperextension and was ruled questionable on Friday's injury report.

While the Eagles got good news from one of their cornerbacks, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was ruled inactive despite practicing Friday for the first time since he hurt his ankle in Week 10. Rodgers-Cromartie previously was listed as questionable.

Michael Vick (ribs) is inactive for a second consecutive week, and Vince Young will start at quarterback for the Eagles.

He will be without the services of Philly's leading receiver, Jeremy Maclin, who was also ruled out. Maclin was listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury.

The Patriots will be without starting center Dan Connolly, while tackles Matt Light (ankle) and Sebastian Vollmer (back) are active.

Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco (hamstring), cornerback Devin McCourty (shoulder) and safety Patrick Chung (foot) were ruled out on Saturday.
