Donald Trump demands to be taken seriously.
The billionaire entrepreneur and professional famous person insists he's sincere in his wish to purchase the Buffalo Bills. And he wants to keep the team in Western New York.
"I'm going to give it a heavy shot," Trump told The Buffalo News on Monday. "I would love to do it, and if I can do it I'm keeping it in Buffalo."
Trump has (very Donald Trump-y) personal reasons for keeping the Bills right where they are. His Boeing 757 could get from New York City to Buffalo in an hour.
"I live in New York, and it's easier for me to go to Buffalo than any other place," he said. "Where am I going to move it, some place on the other side of the country, where I have to travel for five hours?"
Multiple sources confirmed to The Buffalo News that Trump has had two conversations with Bills president and CEO Russ Brandon.
Trump isn't the only high-profile celebrity linked to the Bills, who are expected to be sold following the death of longtime owner Ralph Wilson. Jon Bon Jovi reportedly will be the face of a Toronto-based group seeking to purchase the club.
Bon Jovi's publicist didn't confirm interest in the Bills specifically, but told The Toronto Sun the famous rocker "remains passionate in his pursuit of an NFL franchise."
