Detroit Lions sign Matt Millen's cousin, John Laub

The Detroit Lions signed undrafted Richmond quarterback John Laub to a contract on Tuesday, according to the school's website. This news normally would not be post-worthy, except for one line in Laub's bio.

2013 NFL Draft grades by division

The draft is finally behind us. How did everybody do? Bucky Brooks breaks out the red pen and grades all 32 teams by division. **More ...**

"His cousin is former NFL star and former Detroit Lions president and CEO Matt Millen."

We wish Laub all the best in an uphill battle to beat out Kellen Moore for the No. 3 quarterback job, but we doubt that Lions fans feel as generous about this omen. This would be like the New York Jets signing Vernon Gholston's brother or the San Diego Chargers reaching agreement with Ryan Leaf's nephew.

To put it another way: This is the exact opposite of the San Francisco 49ersgiving Nate Montana a tryout.
