"He's not ready," coach Mike McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That's really all I can tell you. I know he's frustrated, but we all saw the injury. It was a serious injury, definitely something that we're not going to rush him back."
Sherrod was selected No. 32 overall, the Packers first pick after their Super Bowl XLV win. The Packers were optimistic that Sherrod could be ready for training camp, but that didn't happen. He was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and has until Nov. 5 to return to practice, but the Packers seem ready to place Sherrod on injured reserve. He played five games in 2011, but wasn't able to win a starting job.
The injury was pretty gruesome, so it's no shock that he wasn't able to return in 2012. Tough start to a career.
