DeMarcus Ware, Cowboys LB: 25-sack season possible

During the Minnesota Vikings' minicamp last month, defensive end Jared Allen said he thought a 25-sack season was possible, either by himself or by a player like Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware.

In what comes as somewhat of a surprise, Brett Favre says Tony Romo is the one quarterback most similar to himself. ** More ...**

Ware, whose peers voted him the No. 6 player on the NFL Network's "Top 100" list, also believes a 25-sack season is an attainable goal for himself, Allen and others.

"With that coming from Jared Allen, who had 22 last year, the sky's the limit," Ware said, via Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. "I'll also flip it back on him, and say, he can do the same thing, and also, Jason Babin. They're playing really well. But it's all about how the season goes. If it's more of a passing season, we're probably going to have more sacks."

Since sacks became an official NFL statistic in 1982, no one has eclipsed 22.5 in a season. Now, I'm not sure about a 25-sack season, but with the game becoming more-and-more pass-heavy, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Allen, Ware, Jason Pierre-Paul or Von Miller threaten and then break the current record within the next few years.
