Rex Ryan's Super Bowl dream for Darrelle Revis is no more.
The New York Jets coach announced Friday that his star cornerback will be moved to season-ending injured reserve to give his roster added flexibility.

"We're gonna need that roster spot," Ryan said during his Friday news conference, via NFL.com and NFL Network's Kimberly Jones.
Ryan said the Jets likely will use Revis' spot to add another safety to the mix. Eric Smith's knee injury has left the team thin at the position.
Ryan conceded he never actually envisioned getting Revis back this season, despite earlier comments the Jets were holding out hope the cornerback could return for the Super Bowl. Revis is scheduled to undergo surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament next Thursday.
Antonio Cromartie has done an admirable job filling in for Revis since the All-Pro was injured in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. Cromartie held Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson to one catch for 15 yards on Monday night. Whether or not Andre Johnson is still Andre Johnson is a topic for another post.
UPDATE: The Jets officially announced Revis has been placed on injured reserve. The team also signed safety Antonio Allen from the practice squad.
