Danny Amendola: 'I'm sick of talking about' my injury

The great Danny Amendola experiment is ready to begin in New England.

Amendola will be on the field when the Patriotsopen the regular season on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Amendola has been limited in recent weeks by a groin injury he suffered during an Aug. 16 preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Given the wide receiver's past injury issues -- he's missed 20 games over the past two seasons -- the groin issue might be seen as a foreboding sign for a Patriots team that desperately needs Amendola to produce.

"I'm sick of talking about it; I just want to go play, to be honest with you," Amendola said, according to "I'm excited about getting out there. I'm just ready to go."

The Patriots are notorious for voluminous injury reports, so Amendola's presence on the list tells us little. We expect to see plenty of Amendola against the Bills. The question is whether the receiver can bring the same durability to the slot that Wes Welker did for six seasons.

It's a tall order.
