Cowboys VP: Tony Romo will be ready by training camp

Tony Romo is on the right path.

Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones told season-ticket holders during a Tuesday conference call that Romo will be ready for training camp and is fully expected to be ready for Week 1. Romo underwent surgery to repair a herniated disk on Dec. 27.

"Yes he will and he's actually progressing great," said Jones, via ESPN.com. "He's on schedule if not ahead of schedule. He's throwing the ball around, we not only think he'll be ready for opening week, he'll start up at training camp and be ready to go.

"He's obviously a tremendous competitor, and in our mind he kept us in all season long with a defense that was depleted with injuries, with a chance to win the NFC East in the last game of the year. And if he had played in that game, that game might have gone in a different direction."

Jerry Jones' decision to pass onJohnny Manziel (and every other quarterback in the draft) tells you everything you need to know about Dallas' confidence in Romo's recovery. The Cowboys expect Romo to play, and play well.

The "Around The League Podcast" predicts which rookie quarterbacks will start first and what veterans are in trouble after the draft.
