Cooley, Hightower become latest 'Skins to end season on IR

The Washington Redskins have placed Chris Cooley and running back Tim Hightower on season-ending injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.

Cooley underwent surgery last week on a broken left index finger that he sustained during a Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles/a>. Cooley, who also had battled a left knee injury since the preseason, didn't play in lastSunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers. He finished the season with eight receptions for 65 yards in five games.

The Redskins didn't disclose if Cooley was placed on IR because of the injury to his finger or his knee.

The team declared Monday that Hightower would miss the remainder of the season with a torn left knee ligament that he suffered against the Panthers. He finished the season with 321 yards on 84 carries.
