Chung highlights long list of questionable Pats; Spikes out

Friday's injury report was a mixed bag of sorts for the New England Patriots' defense.

Linebacker Brandon Spikes, who missed his third straight practice Friday, will not play this weekend against the New York Jets because of a knee injury sustained Week 9 against the Giants. Defensive back Patrick Chung, on the other hand, is questionable with a foot injury after practicing on a limited basis Friday.

Chung did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.

While Chung officially is questionable, coach Bill Belichick did not sound overly optimistic about the safety's prospects of playing against the Jets saying, "(Chung) hasn't been able to do much." Belichick also suggested the Patriots might call up a practice squad player for the game.

Nine other Patriots were listed as questionable for Sunday's game, including defensive end Shaun Ellis (rib), running backs Kevin Faulk (knee) and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (toe), linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee) and offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer (back).

Green-Ellis, Mayo and Vollmer all played this past week against the Giants after they were considered questionable prior to the game.

Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress (lower back) and running back Joe McNight (toe) are listed as probable and expected to play for the Jets.
