New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan credits his success in football to his father, Steve Jordan, who spent 13 seasons playing in the NFL.
Cameron was a small boy when Steve Jordan was a tight end with the Minnesota Vikings, and he fondly recalls hanging around the team's facility with his dad.
"I remember being able to use the facility and they had a big punching bag on one side of the field," Cameron told the Saints' official website. "We would just go and have a good time. We didn't care what they were doing on the field."
As Cameron's interest in football grew, his dad tried persuading him to play his position of tight end. But despite Cameron settling into his position on the defensive line, Steve has been there providing support and coaching the entire way.
"Whatever team we were a part of, he would try to be a coach on," Cameron said. "He stuck to his position, but he just wanted to stay close and make sure everything was going all right."
When Cameron was selected with the No. 24 overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, it was a special day for both father and son.
"When I got drafted, it was like he got drafted again," Cameron said. "He was even more excited than I was. He was just happy to see me get to the next level."
