Buffalo Bills great Jim Kelly recovering after jaw cancer surgery

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo BillsHall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly is described as being in good spirits, recovering at home after having surgery to remove cancerous cells from his upper jaw.

Kelly's spokeswoman, Tricia Cavalier, said he was released from the hospital Monday, three days after the operation.

Kelly's wife, Jill, posted a note on her Twitter account Wednesday, saying "there's a long road ahead," but doctors are pleased with her husband's recovery. She said the next step is awaiting results of bone tests.

Dave Jickster, who works for Buffalo's 97-Rock radio station, said Kelly's spirits are good and "he's got the right attitude." Jickster visited Kelly to present him an over-sized "Get Well" card signed by numerous supporters.

Jickster released photos showing Kelly flashing a thumbs-up sign posing next to the card.
