Buccaneers' Casillas: Josh McCown 'on another level'

Mike Glennonhasn't given up hope of winning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starting quarterback job.

Why should he? He opened eyes in offseason practices and is fully expected to compete with presumed starterJosh McCown.

To hear Bucs linebacker Jonathan Casillas tell it, though, McCown is "on another level" than Glennon entering training camp.

"... Don't take anything from Glennon; he's just only in his second year," Casillas told WEPN-FM in New York, via "But McCown looks like he's played a couple of years in this game.

"It's a strong comparison, but he reminds me of Drew (Brees), not just the way he throws the ball, but his approach to the game. The first one in, last one out. You know, he's always around. He's very (communicative), very personable. And you can tell he's a born leader."

That's high praise. It's also consistent with the coaching staff's glowing comments about McCown having already established himself as the leader and tone-setter with unwavering confidence on the field and in the locker room.

There's sentiment in Tampa that McCown will be on a short leash this season, looking over his shoulder at the Bucs' talentedquarterback of the future. We fully expect him to make the rare mid-thirties leap instead.
