It should be no surprise, then, that Arians believes West Virginia's Geno Smith doesn't quite stack up to last year's top quarterback prospects.

"The guys that were in the combine last year, all of them when they left the room, you went, 'Wow,'" Arians said this week at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix, via's Mike Sando. "No one in this draft made me go, 'Wow.'"

Arians notes that mock drafts sending Smith to the Cardinals in the first round overemphasize perceived needs at the expense of actual player value. Unless he's going out of his way to dupe the rest of the NFL, Arians hardly sounds like a man ready to splurge on a quarterback.

One NFL insider believes the Cardinals will turn their attention to big-armed N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon, a favorite of's Bucky Brooks and an ideal fit for Arians' vertical offense.
