Browns' Brian Hoyer: I'm 100 percent healthy

Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer says his surgically repaired knee won't hold him back when Cleveland launches training camp later this month.

"Yeah, no doubt. No doubt," Hoyer told Daryl Ruiter of WKRK-FM, when asked if he was 100 percent. "I'm ready to go, so can't wait for Day 1."

On hand to throw out the first pitch at Saturday's Indians game, Hoyer told Ruiter that he's spent his off time throwing to a cast of Browns wideouts including Andrew Hawkins and Charles Johnson. He hasn't paid much attention to the drama surrounding rookie passer Johnny Manziel, who will open camp behind Hoyer on the depth chart.

"I'm not really focused on my teammates, what they do in their off life, so that's none of my business," Hoyer said. "They can make those decisions on their own. All that matters is that we come back ready to go for the season."

Hoyer was unable to participate fully during OTAs and minicamp because of the torn ACL he sustained last October. Browns play-caller Kyle Shanahan said in June that, in his mind, the quarterback competition "hasn't really started yet," but a healthy Hoyer would allow the team to fully evaluate their two passers.

"I'm not looking for anything to be handed to me and I know Johnny, he's going to push me to his full extent," Hoyer said. "I'm looking forward to just going out there and playing football and competing."

Bottom line: Hoyer vs. Manziel looms as this summer's most intriguing quarterback duel -- unless you're this guy:
