Broncos director of player personnel Matt Russell was sentenced to seven months in jail and two years probation Friday after pleading guilty to DUI, careless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol, according to authorities.
Colorado Judicial Branch spokesman Rob McCallum informed NFL Media that Russell also will be eligible for work release.
Russell was suspended by Denver in July of last year, when he was charged with DUI after being accused of driving into a police vehicle in Breckenridge, Colorado. An officer inside the silver 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe was not seriously hurt, per the Colorado State Patrol.
In addition, Russell got in a separate automobile accident earlier that night when he was traveling through nearby Frisco, town spokeswoman Brodie Boilard told NFL Media last July.
The Broncos initially hired Russell in 2009 as the team's director of college scouting. He was later promoted to his current post of director of player personnel in January 2012.
