Brian Hoyer will be Arizona Cardinals' QB in finale

You almost have to wonder if Ken Whisenhunt is enjoying this by now.

With each new week, the coach keeps our society waiting breathlessly for the announcement of who will start at quarterback for his Arizona Cardinals.

This time around, the honors go to Brian Hoyer. Whisenhunt told reporters Wednesday that the former New England Patriots backup will become the Cardinals' fourth -- and final -- starter of the season Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, per Mike Jurecki of KGME-AM.

Hoyer was signed off the street earlier this month, which tells you much about the situation in Arizona, where rookie Ryan Lindley and on-again-off-again starter John Skelton have flip-flopped frightening performances down the stretch of this 5-10 season. Hoyer relieved Lindley in last Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Chicago Bears and finished 11-of-19 passing for 105 yards with an interception.

Drama, indecision and futility at quarterback have been the undoing of this season's Cardinals. Until they find their man, a talent like Larry Fitzgerald is being wasted on a team that has become a carcass in the NFC West.
