Brett Favre: Jets' Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow can coexist

When the New York Jets acquired Tim Tebow in a trade with the Denver Broncos in March, it was speculated the uneasy alliance between him and Mark Sanchez would lead to an implosion in Florham Park.

Jeremiah: Rex Ryan vs. Rob Ryan

Who will lead the better defensive unit in 2012: Rex or Rob Ryan? Daniel Jeremiah surveyed 15 NFL execs/scouts. **More ...**

That drama has dissipated somewhat in the months since, as organized team activities and minicamps established Sanchez as the clear-cut starter. But despite the Jets' tireless efforts to build up Sanchez this offseason -- remember the timing of that contract extension during the Peyton Manning sweepstakes? -- the chance for high, thoroughly destructive, drama remains for Gang Green.

In the latest segment taken from Deion Sanders' conversation with Brett Favre, the retired quarterback seems to believe the Jets have the right personalities in place to avoid trouble.

"Well, I think Tebow will obviously handle it with class, regardless of what they try to put on him," said Favre, who preceded Sanchez as the Jets' starting quarterback in 2008. "I don't really know Mark that well, but I think he's handled himself well considering the circumstances.

"Mike Tannenbaum is a great GM. He wants to win," Favre added. "And he may kind of scramble things up a little bit. You know, it's a tough place, but I think the right coach is there."

That coach, Rex Ryan, has been trusted by Tannenbaum to keep the quarterback depth chart from turning into the "Dallas" reboot. Easier said than done, especially if 76,000 sauced-up Jets fans are chanting "TE-BOW, TE-BOW" by Week 4.
