Austin Collie to be ready for Colts opener, Pagano says

Austin Collie is coming back, and probably sooner than you thought.

Despite suffering a concussion last week -- Collie's fourth in the past 15 months -- Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Monday the wide receiver should be ready for the season opener against the Chicago Bears, according to The Indianapolis Star.

Collie could prove to be a valuable commodity for rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, but it's surprising to learn the Colts are comfortable with this timetable. Collie was injured last Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he took a forearm to the helmet from linebacker Larry Foote.

At that time, it was fair to wonder if yet another concussion had ended Collie's career. Now he's on pace to return without missing so much as a regular-season game. We're sure Collie is happy with the timetable, and it surely helps a Colts team that's extremely thin at wide receiver.

If this is the right move for Collie's long-term health is a different conversation altogether.
