Arians: Cards' Jonathan Cooper still has a ways to go

The Arizona Cardinals' offensive line finished dead last in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking ratings last season.

The team is counting on new left tackle Jared Veldheer and left guard Jonathan Cooper to solidify Carson Palmer's blindside.

Although the Cardinals expect Cooper to be ready for training camp, it's worth noting that he's still not fully recovered from a broken legsuffered last August.

"I really like where Jared is; Coop's still got a ways to go," coach Bruce Arians said on the final day of offseason workouts, per Fox Sports Arizona. "He's not the athlete he was last year at this time but I wouldn't expect him to be.

"It's just a matter of getting his strength back and his confidence and his balance."

Cooper's progress will be a story to monitor in training camp. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft was hyped by NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell as the most athletic guard he had seen since he carefully began studying college tape less than a decade ago.

If the Cardinals are going to emerge from three years in the basement of offensive-line play, they will need Cooper to recapture his pre-injury form.

In the latest episode of the "Around The League Podcast," the guys discuss Rob Gronkowski's expected return to action and Cordarrelle Patterson's potential rise this season.
