Charles Woodson is due $10 million next season. Some wonder if he'll return to the Green Bay Packers at that number, if the team will look to lower it or if the parties will decide to go their separate ways.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers let the world know his feelings during his weekly radio show on WAUK-AM with Jason Wilde.
"I know he is under contract and that he is an important part of our football team," Rodgers said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I think he adds a lot. He is still playing at a really high level. He's very intelligent and sets a good example in preparation. He's always watching film. He did a great job, especially, with guys like Sam Shields and Tramon (Williams), a couple of years back. He kind of took them under his wing. Now Tramon is carrying on that tradition.
"Having his presence around the locker room really helps, setting an example for the young guys. It helps me out, as far as being the leader."
Woodson, 36, missed nine games this past season because of a broken collarbone. He also broke his collarbone during the Packers' Super Bowl win two years ago.
The Packers moved Woodson to safety in their base defense in part because of need but also due to the fact he just doesn't cover like he did as recently as 2010.
"I really don't like talking for other players," Rodgers said. "Especially when money is involved. That gets a little dicey. That is something they would have to work out.
"I have said this before about other players. I don't think you get better by taking from the whole, taking a core guy. And I think he is a core guy."
