Roman Harper: Cam Newton playing with some swag

The Panthers are getting a good vibe from their quarterback as they roll into the playoffs.

Cam Newton missed just one game after a terrifying car accident that left him with two transverse process fractures in his back.

But if you ask teammate and veteran safety Roman Harper, you can't tell anything has happened. Newton seems to be more energetic than ever.

"He's running around, he's playing with some swag about him and he's making some plays, getting first downs," Harper said Wednesday morning on NFL Network's NFL AM after winning the Defensive Player of the Week award for the NFC. "When Cam is doing that, that's when we're at our best. We just need him to be himself, come out with confidence and do what he does. There's a reason he's the face of this franchise."

The Panthers are hoping this feeling continues when the Cardinalscome to town this Saturday. Newton was stymied by the Arizona defense back in 2013 and was unable to find any running lanes when the pocket broke down. That was also when he had Brandon LaFell and Steve Smith Sr.

If Carolina is going to pull off the win, Newton's "swag" will need to be at an all-time high.
