Namath would probably like to take back Geno tweet

Like you, Broadway Joe has regrets on this Monday.

Geno Smith's return to the Jets lineup was short-lived after the beleagured quarterback suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the team's Week 7 matchup against the Ravens. Smith spent the second half of the game in street clothes watching the Jets' comeback win from the sidelines.

The optics of it all didn't sit well with Joe Namath, who took to Twitter to question the severity of Smith's injury.

Smith offered a reply to the tweet, which gained some traction on social media.

On Monday, the other shoe dropped. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that an MRI revealed Smith suffered a torn ACL in the game. It's a crushing setback for Smith, who loses a golden opportunity to reestablish his value as he heads toward free agency. It's also another reminder that you never know how severe or minor a knee injury is until that MRI comes back.

Meanwhile, we can expect an apology tweet from Joe Willie in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
