For New York Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, it's the more the merrier.
The former No. 5 overall pick in 2022 is excited to welcome No. 3 overall selection Abdul Carter to the crew this season.
"I think [Carter's] a great player. We can use him in a lot of different ways," Thibodeaux said on Tuesday night at the Gridiron Gala, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. "I'm excited to see him come in and grind and [see] what we're going to get."
The Carter selection bulks up an already good Giants pass rush. Thibodeaux and veteran Brian Burns formed one of the top duos last season. Burns generated 8.5 sacks and 66 QB pressures, while Thibodeaux added 5.5 sacks and 42 QB pressures in 12 games. Now they add Carter, the consensus top edge rusher in the draft.
Thibodeaux anticipates all three being on the field together at some point, in a potential nod to the Giants' throwback NASCAR package.
"I think that is the outside linebacker position," Thibodeaux said. "We're those tweeners. If you look at my skill set, Brian's skill set -- Brian can rush inside. I can, but Brian is probably better rushing inside than I am. But Brian can rush inside. I can rush inside. He can rush from depth. I can rush from depth being at that linebacker position. So can Abdul.
"We'll see how they mix it up. But we'll all be on the field at some point."
The trio, along with star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, will give the Giants a relentless front that offers flexibility and talent to pester quarterbacks and crumble the pocket. If Big Blue is to make a move northward in the NFC East, the defensive front will be the key.
