Lomas Brown regrets letting Scott Mitchell get injured

Former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Lomas Brown did himself no favors when he foolishly bragged on radio about purposely missing a block to help get teammate Scott Mitchell injured during a 1994 game.

Rightly sensing his misplaced bravado made him out to be, well, a total jerk, Brown went into damage-control mode during a Thursday appearance on ESPN's "First Take."

Brown was sufficiently roasted in the national forum, and poor Scott Mitchell -- a guy who once had invited Brown into his house as a dinner guest -- called the revelation "disappointing" and "painful."

"That was 1994, and I was extremely frustrated with the situation that was going on," Brown said, via ProFootballTalk.com. "And, you know, I didn't try to get the guy hurt, but that's what ended up happening."

Of course, Brown previously had stated that getting Mitchell injured and out of the game was exactly what he was trying to do. Brown should just stop talking for awhile.

"I should have been more tactful about how I said that," Brown said of his initial comments. "It came off boastful. And I shouldn't have said it that way. I said it, I can't take it back, but I shouldn't have said it the way I said it."

No, Lomas. You shouldn't have said it at all.
