So happy together: Pro Bowl WR Smith will remain a Panther

After an offseason full of speculation of whether he would stay or go, Steve Smith will remain with the Carolina Panthers, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Thursday.

According to Lombardi, Smith met with Panthers general manager Marty Hurney on Wednesday night and will report to training camp Friday. Smith, who has two years remaining on his contract, was tight-lipped throughout the offseason amid reports he had requested a trade and wanted out of Carolina.

Smith, a four-time Pro Bowl pick and the Panthers' all-time leading receiver, had attended some player-organized workouts during the offseason.
