Report: Cowboys LBs coach Herring expected to talk to Texans

Texas' two NFL teams could be swapping assistant coaches, the *Houston Chronicle* reported Monday, citing a person with knowledge of the situation.

The Houston Texans, looking for a linebackers coach, are expected to interview Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Reggie Herring on Tuesday. The Texans had been denied permission to speak to Herring before the Cowboys hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator.

Herring worked under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in Dallas.

Bruce Matthews, a Texans assistant coach who worked with the offensive line the past two years, interviewed Monday with the Cowboys for an assistant offensive line position. The Texans would like to retain Matthews, whose contract runs through March 1.
